Artist Statement:
Weldigo is a sculpture created by JWP High School’s 2024-2025 metal sculpture class. We selected a wendigo as our subject because we’re fascinated by the creature and the interesting stories that follow along with this type of cryptid. We enjoyed the challenge of finding all the different objects to use for hair, ribs, hooves, and antlers.
About Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton (JWP) Advanced Metal Sculpture Class
This is a collaborative sculpture created by the JWP Metal Sculpture Class of 2024-2025. There are 10 students and two teachers in this class of which all had a part in making this sculpture. Previously the metal sculpture class has won the People’s Choice Award and has been approved and accepted into the Mankato CityArt Walking Sculpture Tour for seven consecutive years.
