Going for the Goal

Artist Statement:

“Going for the Goal” is a bronze sculpture by Dee Clements. It was originally commissioned by the City of Paramont, CA where in 1946, Frank Zamboni invented his ice resurfacing machine for his ice skating rink. In 1999, the city built a faux ice rink outside his Zamboni’s original building. The hockey player is one of eight bronze figures the city commissioned Clements to create. As an artist with diverse sculptural interest, Clements has explored concepts for design from different cultures, images and philosophies over the last thirty years creating over one hundred sculptures.

Going for the Goal was purchased through a community wide fundraising effort led by the CityArt Walking Sculpture Tour Committee and donated back to the city for permanent installation in front of the Mayo Clinic Health Systems Event Center.
