Artist Statement:
Garden Fairy is a light-hearted sculpture of a child-like fairy with butterfly wings, seated in a garden. This little sprite rests on daisy petals and holds diminutive daisies in her hand. Her expression is innocent, her pose is graceful, and her wings seem ready to flutter and lift her, weightless, into the air. Garden Fairy was designed to bring a message of simplicity and peace—a healing balm in the midst of our busy and stressful days.
About Sondra Jonson
The studio of sculptor Sondra Jonson has been located in rural southwest Nebraska since 1994. Jonson has installed over 100 large sculpture works across the United States and Canada, in public parks, churches, hospitals, schools, Veterans’ parks, shrines and private corporations, including an 11 ft. tall bronze Fallen Soldier Memorial in Sioux Falls, SD. Jonson has been an exhibitor and award winner in numerous juried art shows and outdoor sculpture shows and her sculptures and writing have been featured in regional and national magazines. Ms. Jonson was awarded the 2018 Award for Outstanding Women in the Arts by the D.A.R. She is also a recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who’s Who in America. She is also a graduate of Bryn Mawr College and the Frudakis Academy of Art, both in Philadelphia.
