Artist Statement:
Blue Trees and Sky is based on a drawing of the silhouette of trees at dusk—a network of lines which recall the veins of the hands and patterns of insect wings. This poetic form casts a shadow of intersecting lines around the base. It seems to be dancing with outstretched arms. Each side is cut differently, so walking around the piece gives a sense of passing through the forest. The sculpture resembles a large blue butterfly, which has appeared from a fantasy world to alight on the sidewalk.
About Cathrin Hoskinson
Cathrin Hoskinson, from New York state, has been a noted artist for decades, throughout the United States and beyond. Her art is displayed in galleries, art centers and public art venues. She has degrees in sculpture and printmaking, in addition to an MFA from Hunter College.
