Serpentine Insect Hostel
Artist Statement:
The curved shape is graceful, pliable, and helps the piece to merge into the landscape. This piece allows sunlight to dapple through the piece while the stainless steel tubes allow pollinators and small birds to roost on a functional piece of public art. The shape and movement of the piece speaks to resilience and innovation.
About Tim Adams
Tim Adams is a 1985 Landscape Architecture graduate of Iowa State University and is a Registered Professional Landscape Architect. Tim owned Stony Creek Landscapes, Inc., Webster City, Iowa, a full- service landscape design/build firm prior to pursuing art full time. Tim is a lifelong student of the arts and his career of 40 years has been built around creating and installing “One Off” sculptures and designs for gardens, entry features, parks, churches, municipalities, and schools. Tim’s medium is weathered, painted, and stainless steel, aluminum, acrylic sheet/Lexan, and native limestone. His works are designed and constructed as stout, long-term installations with little or no maintenance needed.
