Artist Statement:
The remarkable act of rising every time we face failure, adversity, discrimination and injustice. The hard angles, engraved symbols and rotating cylinder are an expression of that life changing journey.
About Tim James & Aidan Demarais
Tim James and Aidan Demarais started creating metal sculptures together in 2014. They had connecting classrooms at J.W.P. High School in Janesville, Minnesota where Demarais was teaching industrial technology and James was the art teacher. The exchange of ideas between the two was prevalent in all areas of teaching but what extended beyond the school day was a collaboration focused on what could be done with metal and the creation of sculptures.
Together, their sculptures can be found in Missouri, Indiana, Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota. Their work has been featured in numerous exhibitions over the years and they have been the recipients of several “Best in Show” and “People’s Choice” Awards.
