Artist Statement:
Sondra states, “In creating The Calling, my focus was on the spiritual moment when an individual receives her own personal calling in life. Although seated, the young woman is in motion—slightly off balance and turning—as if responding to an unexpected summons. The bird too is in motion, just alighting on the hand she extends. Her left hand is lifted, palm up, suggestive of her willingness to be guided by a voice that speaks silently to her heart.”
