Victory Garden
Artist Statement:
WWII saw food and metal shortages. Americans stepped up to the plate by planting gardens and canning their own food. Everyone in the family helped, and neighbors helped each other. Hungry community members and strangers were not turned away. This little girl uses her imagination to help the war effort.
About Lee Leuning & Sherri Treeby - Bad River Artworks
Sherri and Lee are nationally recognized bronze sculptors, specializing in highly representational figurative sculptures. Their Americana style is reminiscent of Norman Rockwell’s touching scenes of daily life. They have participated in the CityArt Walking Sculpture Tour since its beginning, with several of their works having been selected as the People’s Choice Award and being permanently on display through out Mankato. Lee was born in Lake Hendricks, MN and Sherri is an Ohio native. They have created over 300 public venue sculptures together from their studios next to Sioux Falls Park and Lake Richmond, SD.
