Korean War Memorial
Artist Statement:
Depicting a lone figure clad in a winter combat uniform, the monument honors all who served in Korea from 1950 – 1953 and includes the names of all Minnesotans who died in the war. The kasota stone monument sculpted by Thomas Miller is claimed to be the first memorial in Minnesota with all the names of the Minnesotans that lost their life in the Korean War.
Location: The southwest corner of the Blue Earth County Library, Riverfront Drive and Main Streets
About Thomas Miller
Thomas Miller was born in Mankato in 1960 and studied art at the Laguna Beach School of Art in CA. It was there that he discovered his natural talent for stone carving. Since his graduation in 1980, he has amassed extensive professional experience in sculpting and cutting. Many of his pieces have obtained national recognition. He currently runs Monuments by Miller out of Mankato.
