Hats Off Blown Away
Artist Statement:
Leaves are Mother Nature’s expressive and hard working hands. It’s a windy day and hats are off. She’s tossed them up in the air, and they’re blown away in a swirl of leaves. The leafy arm that carries the hats rotates in the wind on its fixed, stump-like base.
About Lee Badger
Lee W. Badger’s life-long career as an artist-blacksmith started in the Colorado Rockies in the 1970’s and brought him to the Mid-Atlantic National Capitol Area in the late 1980’s. For five years he was an Artist-in-Residence at Glen Echo National Park in suburban Washington, DC. Since 1998 he’s been working in a forge and workshop of his own design, the Anvil Works Art Metal Studio in Hedgesville, WV, where he has received recognition and support from the WV Department of Arts, Culture & History and the National Endowment for the Arts. His sculptures appear in several public art exhibitions every year.
