S.S. Exuberance
Artist Statement:
The S. S. Exuberance sails the seven seas. She heads off wherever she wants to go, moving forward into the wind at full speed or meandering backwards. She is a kayak, a sailboat, a yacht, or even an ocean liner. She is a state of mind, so she can live in your imagination.
About Don & Ellen Ljun (Donellen Designs)
Partners in life for over five decades, Don and Ellen Ljung find their skills and style to be complementary. Ellen’s expertise in color is matched by Don’s expertise with the kilns. Working collaboratively, they experiment with new ways to fuse and cast glass. Together they create sculptures, serving pieces, art panels, and wall art using the brilliant colors and wide range of light diffusion and reflection of glass.
Their awards include: First Place in Glass, 2009 Stone Arch Festival of the Arts [Minneapolis]; Award of Merit, 2017 Prairie Sculpture Show, Illinois; People’s Choice, 2019 Prairie Sculpture Show, Illinois; Best of Show, 2020 Prairie Sculpture Show.
